Do you know that every failure, every adversity, and every unpleasant event in your life carried with it the seed of an equivalent benefit or advantage?
Today, I was privileged enough to have shared a short yet very meaningful journey with this 7-year old boy, Sam (not his real name).
While waiting for my youngest daughter to arrive at our agreed place, my eldest daughter and I shared a chitchat moment in the mall’s food court.
Sam got my attention as he paraded his desire for something. Back and forth he marched from the toy shop to the food court table where his older cousin was seated. They were waiting for his mum, but both were not engaged.
When his mum arrived he sheepishly pointed to the toy shop. Mum said, No!
Sam kept his gaze and silently maintained his connection to his desired toy from a 50-meters distance. And he murmured, “but I really want you.”
So, I jumped in and asked Sam to tell me what was causing him all these hassles. He said, “I really wish and want to have that “Pikachu” plush.
Too late! EB Games has closed for the day.
Sam said, “I know other places that sell Pikachu, it’s called Big W!”
And there’s the proof! Sam as a young child has never yet forgotten about the seed of equivalent benefit and has germinated it to his advantage.
Sam was able to transform a failure into enduring success.
Sam said to mum, “See mum, dreams do come true!”
