Silence is violence.

Many who had childhood trauma exposure are quite resilient, do you agree?

💡 💡 💡 💡 💡

The image I have attached below has nothing to do with politics, racial profiling, or any other affiliations.

The sole purpose of this post is to create a conversation on the impact of trauma on those who have experienced it and who are suffering the aftereffects of it: PTSD, SUDs, CPTSD, Cancer, etc.

👉 The answer is to the question above is: NO!

An early traumatic experience may increase the risk of substance use disorders (SUDs) because of attempts to self-medicate or to dampen mood symptoms associated with a dysregulated biological stress response.

Childhood trauma compromises neural structure and function, rendering an individual susceptible to later cognitive deficits and psychiatric illnesses.

59% of young people with PTSD subsequently develop substance abuse problems.

Stress, as an aftereffect of trauma increase cancer risk by 18%, impairing the body’s immune system’s ability to detect and fight cancer.

Trauma = PTSD + SUDs = CPTSD = Cancer (other co-morbid illnesses).

Trauma is an emotional response to a terrible event.

Acute, chronic, or complex traumas all have an equal amount of impact. It causes an equal amount of misery – enough to ruin someone's life.

Let us help enhance awareness of the comorbidity between PTSD and substance abuse. It is critical in both understanding mechanisms to substance addiction as well as improving prevention and treatment.

Repressing emotions is not a sign of strength.

Silence is violence.
